The Gables Inn Bed & Breakfast makes the perfect hub for your trip to Hot Springs.  The Gables is located just a few blocks from historic downtown, antique stores, restaurants, shops, bathhouses, art galleries and shows.  Most of the art galleries stay open late (5-9 pm) for Gallery Walk on the first Friday of every month to host receptions for new exhibits of local, national and international artists.  Antique Walk is the 3rd Friday of every month and features Antique Row open late (4-8 pm).

"Hot Springs: A Journey Through History" is part of the permanent collection owned by the CVB featuring 19 new photos.

These are just some of the new photos added to this wonderful photo exhibit.

* Babe Ruth at the Hot Springs Country Club, circa 1923, with the Babe holding his golf club like a baseball bat.
* Ruth drinking from a water pump at the Hot Springs Country Club, also circa 1923.
* Ruth riding a horse at Oaklawn Jockey Club, also circa 1923.
* Cy Young, the legendary baseball pitcher, March 23, 1907. This photo was taken during spring training for pitchers held in Whittington Park. At the time Young was the player/manager for the Boston Americans (later renamed the Boston Red Sox).

"Hot Springs: A Journey Through History" consists of photographs from the collection of the Garland County Historical Society that have been enlarged and framed for exhibition purposes.

The Ringers of Hope touring bell choir, will present their 3nd annual “Grand Finale Concert” on Mother’s Day in the Anthony Chapel at Garvan Woodland Gardens, on Sunday at 3 p.m. Music will include many traditional Christian favorites as well as a special children’s selection.

5th - Stueart Pennington Running Of The Tubs

Stueart Pennington Running Of The Tubs, an open bathtub race that highlights the city's colorful history of "We Bathe the World," on World-famous Bathhouse Row in downtown Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas.
The winning team will receive a traveling winner's trophy that it will keep until the next year's race. Individual team members will receive a trophy. Two additional trophies will be given, one for the Most Original Tub and one for the Most Humorous Tub.

Some of the rules include -

* All team members must be 18 or older.
* The four team members pushing the tubs must wear hats of some type and shape and also some suspenders.
* Anything goes, including water balloons, costumes and race strategies.

All entry fees will be donated to the Downtown Merchants Christmas Tree Fund.

Hot Springs Farmers Market

Local produce in season includes blackberries, blueberries, greens, onions, peppers, okra, purple hull peas, cantaloupes, watermelons, peaches, plums, squash, beans and Arkansas tomatoes. Other offerings include grass fed beef, pork and lamb, eggs, baked goods, honey, fresh cut flowers, herbs and plants, hand-crafted jewelry, cards, soaps, and more. 

Meet the farmers and craft vendors at your local Farmers Market. Choose from a wide variety of Arkansas grown fruits and vegetables. Enjoy live entertainment on Saturday mornings and the wonderful atmosphere the market patrons bring. Market is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays 6-11 a.m. and Wednesdays 4-7 p.m. from May to October!

The $1 million All-American features 54 weekend anglers and 54 co-anglers fishing for top awards of $140,000 in the Boater Division and $70,000 in the Co-angler Division. The winning boater and winning co-angler will advance to the $2.5 million Forrest Wood Cup presented by BP and Castrol in Atlanta Aug. 5-8, 2010, where pros will compete for as much as $1 million and coanglers will fish for as much as $100,000 – the sport’s largest awards, the release said.



The All-American, in conjunction with the FLW Tour qualifying event, will feature its traditional Family Fun Zone and Outdoor Show at the convention center, with daily giveaways for children and adults. The Family Fun Zone will be open Thursday through Sunday of tournament week. Admission to all of the events will be free.

FLW Outdoors, named after Forrest L. Wood, the legendary founder of Ranger Boats, is the largest fishing tournament organization in the world. FLW Outdoors has taken fishing mainstream with FLW Fantasy Fishing, offering the largest awards possible in the history of fantasy sports.
